How to Become a Member

Church membership is the personal relationship of an individual to the body of Christ. Seventh-day Adventists welcome into membership those who are enjoying a spiritual experience in the Lord Jesus and who have accepted those principles of Bible truth upon which we as a people are united.

This means that the serious candidate will have carefully studied those truths. This is often done in a seminar or Bible class or through individualized study. If this is a step you would like to take, talk to the pastor about it. He will work closely with you as you move forward.

The New Testament establishes baptism as the rite for admission to the church. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matt. 28:19). "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost" (Acts 2:38). Seventh-day Adventists believe in baptism by immersion. If you would like more information or a pastoral visit please click here.

As in a marriage ceremony, the baptismal service includes an opportunity for you to make a public affirmation of your faith with simple baptism vows. The church members will then vote you into membership and you will receive a certificate to document your baptism and membership status.

For someone who is a member of another Seventh-day Adventist church and wishes to transfer to the Kettle Falls church, the process is simple: First, make your request to the clerk of the Kettle Falls church. Currently that is Marjorie Holmes. You can contact her on most Sabbaths at the church, or by phone at (509) 738-2627, or by email by clicking here. She will give you a card to fill out, giving her the names of your family members who wish to transfer to Kettle Falls, the address of the church where you now hold membership, etc.

Second, Marjorie will also give you an item entitled "Who We Are." After you have had a few days to look that over, the pastor will make a get-acquainted visit and will seek to answer any questions you might have about membership in the Kettle Falls church.

Third, be patient! Since your request has to be processed through the boards of both churches-the church where you now hold membership and the Kettle Falls church-the completion of the transfer may take as long as three months. In the meantime, consider yourself a part of our church family and continue to fellowship with us as often as possible. The transfer of your membership is important but, while it is in process, it should not keep you from feeling that you are still very much a part of the "Great Advent Movement."
